Intentional, customized and consistent nurturing is what any good vegetable gardener will provide to ensure the best chance for his or her crops to thrive. Even more so in Arizona, than in many areas of the country, we have to be mindful of soil amendments, shade and strategic watering because the unaltered natural conditions are inhospitable to much of the produce we crave. By applying some knowledge and resources, though, Arizona gardeners have been able to turn the harsh environment into an asset and reap satisfying rewards year round.
So it is with rearing children. Yes, with some understanding of their individual needs and a commitment to consistently and lovingly nourishing their bodies, minds, hearts and spirits with the best resources throughout the growing season, you can provide the best chance of success. Although the elements are threatening and pests are relentless, a wise and devoted cultivator can hope for a good harvest.
Just as a veteran gardener is glad to share the handbook of their triumph with others who aspire to hoe the same row, experienced parents and caring child development professionals are free with their advice, many times sharing very difficult stories along with the joyous ones. This is not to gloat, but in genuine compassion for others facing the same challenges and motivated by a deep and sincere desire to improve the welfare of the precious children in our community.
My hope is to share with many parents and grandparents the wonderful toolkit called “The Lullaby Connection: Music & Aromatherapy for Night-Time Nurturing” by Karyn Lynn Grant, LMT. This includes an 8 CD Set”, which I have recently begun to put to work in my own home. Check out some background and testimonials here: https://www.facebook.com/lullabymomma/
Now that I know some specific ways I can more powerfully comfort and fortify my children, I’m so grateful. I’ve learned a lot about physical nutrition – a critical component, to be sure – but now I’m enjoying a vast cornucopia of understanding born of experience, inspiration and clinical science about the power of beautiful, Christ centered music, nurturing touch, aromatherapy and guided imagery to renew and enliven tender hearts and minds.
In addition to “The Healer’s Touch: Song & Scent Method” by Karyn Lynn Grant, LMT relaxation therapy I currently offer for adults and teens, I will soon be teaching Lullaby Connection workshops for families. Please reach out to me if you want to be among my “practice students” during March as I complete the certification. Just fill out the interest form. I hope you’ll treat yourself to a complimentary 30 minute Joy Coaching intro session with me, too! The human spirit is never too old to be healed, nor too young to pursue joy.
